Procore's RFI tool is the most mature in the industry, and it shows. An RFI has a manager and one or more assignees, each of whom can be individually flagged as response-required. Ball-in-court shifts as the RFI moves, assignees can forward it to pull in others, external stakeholders can respond directly by email without logging in, and the log, reporting, and audit trail are enterprise-grade. If your owner or CM mandates Procore, it will not be the RFI module that lets you down.
The tradeoffs are structural. Configuration happens within Procore's model: fields can be set required, optional, or hidden, but Procore's own documentation states that not all fields are configurable, custom fields cannot be set as required, and some settings cannot be reversed once enabled.
